Remembering Terry Toner
The 'In Flanders Fields' trip to Ypres and the Salient in May 2014 was the first time Terry Toner had travelled with us, but sadly it was also the last, as he tragically died suddenly at his home in Driffield in October.
Terry, 62, had become a very good friend to all of us, and a much-loved member of the Star Inn teatime scene, always turning up to watch his beloved Everton on TV, and entertaining us with his tales of rugby tours and Chinese takeaway shenanigans, and always good for a chat about football, politics, or both. The regulars at the Star gave Terry a good send-off, and welcomed his family from Merseyside to Driffield for the day, which I am told was much appreciated.
He was one of the good guys, and is missed by all his friends.
RIP Terry.
